We had the best day that we've had so far today. (At least in my opinion we did). We had the privilege of joining Sarah, a fellow BMS-er, to a school in a village outside of the city today. Ally, Katie and I lead, or attempted to lead, the kids in a round of Father Abraham during chapel. Between having not sang it in ten years and the fact the none of the three of us like being in front of people, it was somewhat disjointed and fairly chaotic at first. But the kids caught on even after all our misguidance. They seemed to enjoy the song and really enjoy the motions. The second round with the younger students went much smoother and they were absolutely precious following along with the motions. After the song, we helped Sarah explain the main points in her lesson for chapel by acting out a couple of skits. Her lesson for the kids was that Jesus set the example of putting each other first. She explained to them that by following Jesus' example and making sure to take of others, that we too will be taken care.
The kids and their principal were SUCH a blessing to us! You can see the joy just radiating in the kids' faces! The principal was such a sweet woman and has such a heart for these children and all the children in the village who are needing education. You could hear the deep felt sadness that she had that the school could only accept half of the students who applied for scholarships. But we could also see the care and passion she has for all the students that were accepted.

ReplyDeleteYour best day yet!!! :) I'm so glad you were able to be a part of the blessing today. It was a true pleasure to have you come along! I pray the rest of your journey is just as fruitful and rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI love your pics of them praying...such intensity! My favorite moment was when the little kids repeated me praying in English instead of the Hindi interpretation. :) Haha! So cute!
