So, is there a parade or festival today? Where is it?

While walking to Freeset on Thursday, we realized that the builders out on the street had made lots of float type decorations and so we asked some of the girls at Freeset if there was a parade soon. They said they thought there was one on Sunday on Park Street. We have been asking since then about this parade to very little avail. However, we met a nice man at the ATM after church this morning that confirmed there was indeed a parade and that it was at four. However, we didn't get clear directions. So after our coffee and vain attempt to read at Oxford (they had 6 unedited Pitbull songs on repeat) we had to continue asking about the parade's location. Our friends at the Lavazzell coffee shop were able to give us directions that got us to the parade.
It was crazy! Once again, I haven't experience anything like it. There were dancers and singers and big floats that were man-pulled that had long, wide ropes that sent everyone scurrying to the sides of the roads when the floats came by. This was mass chaos with everyone running into each other trying to get out the way and others fighting the crowd to get close to the ropes to help pull and then the police officers that were trying to get people out the way. I'm really upset I didn't bring my dslr! I had to use my point and shoot camera and the pictures aren't that great but I guess, at least I got some.

In other news... the weather was absolutely fantastic today! None of us sweated until we got swept in the parade crowd: unheard of!!
